Permission to Pivot: Reclaiming Your Right to Shift

We map our days before we even get out of bed. Plans, preferences, expectations. And then—life invites us to pivot.

From the moment you put your feet on the floor in the morning and walk to the bathroom, kitchen and out the door on your way to work, school, shopping, errands—Everyday living is based on a plan.  Then something happens and you pivot

• The creamer’s gone.
• That favorite blouse? A sudden stain.
• Traffic halts for a crash.
• Your computer fails you pre-deadline.
• Funding for your big project vanishes—and so might your role.

The garden is a boundless teacher!  We can learn from plants — unexpected windy conditions, hail, scorching heat, pests that land on them and they cannot move!  “When plants endure stress from weather and predators, they actually develop properties that keep the animals that snack on them healthier and more resilient.”  (Dr. John Douillard)  In humans this reflects the science of hormesis (xenohormesis in plants) that intentional stress can make you stronger.  How can you apply strength through stress to thrive boldly?

Breaking Free from familial shame patterns is a life altering pivot that unlocks the rigid roles that no longer serve us.

Some pivots aren’t logistical—they are course corrections.

Breaking free from familial shame patterns is not just a change of direction, it’s stepping out of inherited roles that never truly fit the unique, brilliant, best version of YOU!

Encouragements to Pivot Toward a Life You Love

Every pivot begins with a whisper: something feels off.

Your heart strings are continually pulled to a new way of exploring and living your life.

You could keep on keeping on because life is okay really.

Here and now you know how it goes.  Communication patterns and relationships often mirror your roots of shame.  Even with its irritation and heartfelt yearning, knowing what to expect can make you comfortable in the status quo ‘even though’.

Some people live their life well enough to get by.  It is not that they are slackers, and they are free to live, be and do as they wish.

But You, you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and follow your heart.

Tips to help you tune in and trust the shift.

·       When something feels off pause, reassess to choose anew...  This may be a process that carries over days, weeks, or longer for the real big alterations.

·       Cherish the pause while reassessing and choosing again.

·       Pausing is healing.

·       Pausing shows strength.

·       Not all pivots need to be dramatic—sometimes it’s the small course-corrections that create transformation over time.

·       Shifting from the pressure of “getting it right” to tuning in to what feels true right now can be your beacon of light.

You are allowed to reroute your course without an apology.

Which part of your life is calling for a confident pivot today?
